GERMAN INNOVATION AWARD 2026
We won GOLD! 🏆
Earlier this week, designLED was awarded GOLD, at the German Innovation Award 2026, for our AIRTILE technology (sustainability focused, thin, dynamic lighting technology).
We sent our GM, Dr James Gourlay BEng PhD, over to Berlin to collect the gold award in the Excellence in Business to Business – Automotive Technologies category.
The designLED team is feeling super-proud 😀 of the recognition for our leadership & innovation development that goes into developing new automotive interior technologies within FORVIA.

Thanks to the design, lighting and CMF team at OPEL in Rüsselsheim for hosting our Senior Product Manager Tony Allison and Florian Heitzmann from FORVIA HELLA for a tech workshop.
Working together with HELLA, we’re able to showcase lighting HW (ready for SOP) and its next innovation evolution as HW & SW integrated to an IVI, ready for software defined vehicles.🚗

Really enjoyed the past few days at Driving Vision News Interior workshop.
Presenting on stage, in front of a big crowd always takes a fair bit of preparation and a lot of emotional energy… but it’s personally rewarding to accomplish, the engagement and encouragement from the audience really helps.
All of the speakers, from OEMS, T1 and T2/3 suppliers did a great job updating us all on the latest design and technology developments across CMF, Light and UX (and audio!).
I was also manning the expo stand, it’s important we are able to engage with industry experts about mid-development innovations in lighting and lighting software, and to showcase our designLED Products Ltd, a Forvia Faurecia Company core skills, it’s great to see so many people feel the same as I do about lighting innovation.
Finally, a quick run along the River Rhine at sunset to wind down after the few hectic (but rewarding) days!
